People ask the same Big Questions over and over again – these questions are themselves permanent things, and when we read what people have said in response to these questions over time, we are joining the Great Conversation that is literature. Among the big questions, we’ve encountered are “what is man’s relationship to God?” “What is the purpose of life?” “What is our duty to other people?” Chose one of these questions and trace its development through Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance literature, using at least four of our course writers as examples.
