So what is a Summary of Decision?
Well, scholars are basically narrowing down which title they will analyze for their final essay. Scholars will narrow down their options through the process of a simple summary comparison of the readings for each quarter of the semester. We are now in the sixth week of class and summary number two is due. Scholars should now have a basic idea of which works of literature they plan to include in their final essay.
For this assignment, scholars will summarize a basic comparison of the literary works they’ve read for weeks five and six. Here are a few ideas to consider as while completing the comparative summary: NOTE: You must compare at least one title from each week of our readings. That is a total of four titles. You can compare more if you’d like, but you must compare at least one title from each week.
What is the core value (the author’s rhetoric) of the author?
What elements does the author use to communicate their value?
What is the overall theme of the work?
What elements dominate the work?
How does the work influence current-day literature and or culture?
The above are just suggestions. You are encouraged to explore whatever topic interests you the most from the literature.
Here are the specs you must follow:
Format: MLA
POV: Third or first person, not second person
Research: None
Primary sources: Base your essay only on the works of literature listed in the “American Literature, African American Literature, and Hispanic Literature”
You will choose three titles to summarize and provide reader responses for.

The structure and format of your essay must adhere to the standard requirements of academic writing, however, the content development is strictly up to you as the writer.

Minimum word count: 500
Topic: Scholars will develop their own topics and the thesis will reflect the topic developed explicitly.
