Can include information on etiology, disruptions in functioning, etc.

Available Diagnostic Categories:
1. Schizophrenia Spectrum and Psychotic Disorders
1) Introduction and etiology:
• Team: What are the psychosocial issues inherent with this diagnostic category? Include how this diagnostic category impacts client functioning in important areas of life, any known genetic/biological components of this diagnostic category, and any other significant issues and trends in this category.
• Individual: What specific features make each student’s specific diagnosis unique? Can include information on etiology, disruptions in functioning, etc. Focus on the key elements and presentation that make each diagnosis unique.
2) Best assessment strategies:
• Individual: Provide references specific to diagnosis, websites pertinent to the assessment or etiology, and a brief description of what the assessment would look like. Assessment means what we know about how to assess each student’s specific disorder (e.g. scales used, interview strategies, protocols). Do NOT just describe in Assessment what the DSM criteria are as the instructor is already covering that information.
3) Handout (1 per group): detailed reference list that one might provide a client/family who has just received a diagnosis from this category:
PLEASE REFER TO REUBRIC- ONLY SOURCES FOR SCHIZOAFFECTICE DISORDER
• Team: Include suggested treatment articles on each of the disorders with an asterisk (*) by the most recommended articles or books.
The reference list should be in APA FORMAT, have at least 20 references. Each reference should include a brief description of what is contained in the website (2-3 lines). Each reference should be specific to the disorder/diagnostic category, not general (e.g. not National Institutes of Mental Health website Links to an external site.but Asperger/Autism Network website Links to an external site.). Each disorder should have at least one peer-reviewed journal article. Can also include books, institutes of learning/training, professional associations, and other more creative resources. No references can be from Wikipedia. If you are unsure if a reference is legitimate, please ask your instructor!
The PowerPoint must have the names of the presenters on the slides that they completed. The presentation should be between 30-35 minutes in length. Group cohesiveness is important to this assignment. Note that your Corcoran and Walsh textbook is an excellent place to start when researching and determining resources, treatment strategies, etc.; however, you are expected to complete outside research as well.
Please see attached rubric. The topic in purple is the topic that should be discussed for each question.
