Brainstorming:
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, brainstorming is a group problem-solving technique that involves the spontaneous contribution of ideas from all members of the group; the mulling over of ideas by one or more individuals in an attempt to devise or find a solution to a problem …
This is the general definition. However, for this assignment, the “brainstorming exercise is more structured and academic in the sense that you are to clearly identify your subject of the campaign, the approach, the problem, the idea for the filmed portion, the supplementary media format to your campaign. These need to be clearly stated and argued and justified. Consider this as if it is a rough draft for the upcoming proposal.
What are you brainstorming about?
As a simplified version of the assignment, you are to submit a “brainstorming” proposal about a tentative campaign to promote the representation of women and BIPOC in the media and in access and participation in cultural and artistic productions such as in film festivals, for example. Think about the campaign as a promotion that the festival organizers and the audiences will be easily exposed to them as educational products with a smart advertising approach.
So think about this short assignment of brainstorming as a short proposal outlining:
1) The subject of your campaign (which group, why, what is the problem?)
1) The development of the plan for your campaign (film + another supplementary medium) What is the media form in addition to film will your group use to communicate your message? why? how does it supplement?
3) The proposed various messaging and its suggested content/transcription (visual or textual or audio, for example) This can be added as an appendix to your initial 1 page.
4) Remember to include a bibliography if need be and to reference your sources so no plagiarism occurs.
Be precise, succinct, innovative, and right on the message.
