Timeline

The aim of this project is to get practical experience in writing a grant application for funds to carry out an epidemiological study. It should include the following sections.
1. Aims (100 words)
Briefly discuss what the study plans to achieve.
2. Background (400 words)
This is mainly a literature review to justify the need for the study. Because of the word limit it does not have to mention all previous research in the study area, but should include a summary of relevant NZ and international literature along with an explanation of the research questions that need to be answered. What existing gap will your research fill?
3. Research Design (1400 words)
Include the following sub-sections:
Study objectives (how you plan to implement study aims)
Hypotheses
Methods
Sample characteristics including selection, size and composition
Information collected (i.e. disease status and exposure)
Sample size calculations
Methods of analysis (with examples in tables)
4. Timeline
Describe the duration of the research, including diary of when research activities will be carried out for each time period (by months or year, depending on length of study).
5. References
Use the Vancouver convention (i.e. as used in most medical journals including the NZ Medical Journal). Keep websites to a minimum.
I have done most of the assignment and need to fix these issues.
What study design do you plan to use?
What type of skin cancer do you plan to study?
Need to describe how you will recruit participants and the setting for their interview (eg. home, community location such as a hall or church, etc)
How will you measure exposure over many years as skin cancer is caused by cumulative UV exposure?
The methods of data analysis, using 2 by 2 tables as an example.
