Students will choose one cultural group of which they are neither a member nor have much knowledge or experiences. Students will independently choose a cultural group to conduct their “plunge” and explore 4 different aspects: food, music, language, religion, fashion, values, literature, to name just a few.
Presentation Requirements:
1 slide: Title slide, including, cultural group, your name, course title, and date.
1 slide: Video slide, including an embedded video about the chosen culture
4 slides: Content slides reflecting each aspect of the culture (e.g. book, language, music, and customs
1-4 slides: Self-reflection slide describing the Four Stages of Learning* (precontemplation, contemplation, immersion, and emersion).
1 -2 slides: Content slide reflecting on how this plunger activity will affect your role as a future social worker or other professional
1 slide: Discussion slide where you will present 3 open-ended discussion questions for your peers to respond
1 – Reference slide, including all references of readings, websites, videos and pictures Four Stages of Learning: Self-reflect and summarize each of these stages before and after your plunge. Include the summary of these stages in your presentation.
